Terminology, Power, and Inclusive Language in Internet-Drafts and RFCs
Terminology, Power, and Inclusive Language in Internet-Drafts and RFCs
This document argues for more inclusive language conventions sometimes used by RFC authors and the RFC Production Centre in Internet-Drafts that are work in progress, and in new RFCs that may be published in any of the RFC series, in order to foster greater knowledge transfer and improve diversity of participation in the IETF. It is important to note that this is not standard, it does not represent IETF consensus, and should not be misconstrued as anything other than the authors' views.

The Internet Transition
The Internet Transition
The Internet is allowing us to build a richer, more complex society but the way in which we Internet today is failing to support the governance systems that a more complex world requires. I take a look at why these issues are related, try to develop an intuition for a way forward, and point at the emerging field that is coming together to build that future.

We should all be skeptical that Google will deliver on its promise to improve consumer privacy and expand data protection, when that very act will erode Google's dominance.

Why Tech Billionaires Want to Shape Our Future w/ Rose Eveleth - Tech Won't Save Us
Silicon Valley has a solution for everything, but who do its ideas really serve? Every Thursday, Paris Marx is joined by a new guest to critically examine the tech industry, its thought leaders, and the worldview it spreads. They challenge the notion that tech alone can drive our world forward by showing that separating tech from politics has consequences for us all, especially the most vulnerable. But if tech won't save us, what will? This podcast isn't simply about tearing tech down; it also presents radical ideas for tech designed for human flourishing instead of surveillance, acquisitions, or to boost stock prices. A better world is possible, and so is better technology.

You no longer fully own the movie you bought, your next car will not work 100% even though you bought it if you don't keep paying, your smartphone is not fully yours since you are not free to repair it even though you own it, your home devices "betray you" by sharing data with companies even though you have welcomed them into your home... I'm sick to death of this technological modernity.
